Double Diamond

We understand design as a holistic process. To illustrate this, we use the Double Diamond process model. The first diamond represents research, the second represents design.

Discover, Define, Develop, Deliver

The first two phases focus on exploring the problem space (Discover, Define).
The following two phases focus on ideation, design, and execution (Develop, Deliver).

Analysis

The first phase includes observation, contextual interviews, surveys, UX workshops, personas, user journey maps, market and competitor analysis, and design analysis.

Specification

In the subsequent phase, requirements are defined and specified: core and sub-tasks, needs, user requirements, and technical requirements.

Concept & Design

The design phase is part of the solution space. Initial concepts are made visible and tangible through usage scenarios (UX), user flows (UX), wireframes (UX/UI), and UI design.

Evaluation & Testing

In the final phase, concepts are validated through design and usability testing (UX) and optimized where necessary through iteration. The UI design is also tested and refined, leading to the final design after iterative feedback loops.
